We had a little fun last evening. In trying to followup on recent audits, a few of which were done using the new online auditing system, we learned that several bishops had received an "Automated Lufas Email" from Lufas Website. Having been trained in the dangers of unsolicited e-mail from unknown entities on the Internet, most of them deleted the message without further ado. (It went to spam folders for several.)

Those brave enough to open the message were not brave enough to click on the link inside. The stake president laughed and said he had gotten a message too, and thought it was from Lulac. At first, he also ignored it, but finally decided to actually open it and see what it was about. When he understood what was happening, he went ahead and clicked on the link, went to the site, and then could not figure out which audit he was supposed to sign, because after he logged in, the link did not take him to any specific audit.

So we are now working with our bishops to assure them that Lufas is not Lulac, that the message is not from a spammer, that it really has to do with the audit that was just completed in their ward, and will they please log in and sign their audits.

Our e-mail subject lines do not say, "Automated Lufas Email." They say, "Audit ready for review and signature." We have had a much higher success rate than the mysterious Lufas Website had.

And for those who are still puzzled, Lufas means Local Unit Financial Audit System. And it has nothing at all to do with Lulac.

Another mystery of the Kingdom solved.

Is there a way to turn on the automatic Lufas Email? Our stake president is not receving any notification when audits are ready to be signed.

We never turned on the emails, nor do we know how to turn them off. We did not select the email address to which the messages go. They just started showing up when we started using the Local Unit Financial Audit System.

If your stake president is not receiving the emails, my guess would be that they are going to an old email address that is recorded somewhere in the Church system. I do not know where Lufas gets their email addresses.

I would suggest your stake president first check his spam folder. Then he might check any older email address he might have used. Finally, if he calls Local Unit Support, they may be willing to validate his identity and then tell him which address they are using.

I am assuming here, of course, that the Audit Committee Chairman actually has signed the unit audits and then saved the screen. It may be worth having the CC go back into one of the audits to make sure it is still signed. If he clicks on the wrong button, or if he clicks Sign but does not also click Save afterward, the electronic signature is not saved and the email is not sent to the stake president.

This post, from 9 years ago, asks the same question I have received from one of the units in the Coordinating Council. Essentially, how do we enable the emails about audits being available for review? Reportedly, no one in the stake chain of action is receiving emails telling them audits are available for their review. The instructions for the mid-year audit process (2021) refer to these emails but they don't seem to be arriving.
