After the CUBS transition, according to the Budget Allocation Report, our unit ended up with the following budget categories:

Administration
Budget
Budget Allocations
Budget Allocations: Library
Budget Allocations: Relief Society
Budget Allocations: Ward Activities
Budget Allocations: Ward Supplies
Budget Allocations: Young Men
Budget Allocations: Young Men
Budget Allocations: Young Women
Budget Allocations: Young Women
Curriculum
Distributions Center Charges
Elders Quorum
High Priests Group
Library
Other
Primary
Relief Society
Single Adults
Sunday School
Young Men
Young Women

So I have 3 budget categories for Young Men, and 3 Categories for Young Women.

My understanding is that we are supposed to transfer amounts between all of these budget categories so that they begin with a zero balance as of 24 Oct 2010.

Issues:
1. Do I need to be concerned that there are multiple categories for the same thing (i.e. YM & YW)?

2. Initially, the stake is supposed to send us a check to finish out our budgets for the year (2010). Which of the 3 YM categories should the YM portion of our remaining 2010 budget supposed to be deposited into?

3. When the budget allocation begins happening automatically, I'm still unclear where this money will show up.
3a. Will it show up as a lump sum in the Budget category?
3b. Will it show up as a lump sum in the Budget Allocations category?
3c. If it is automatically dispersed to various categories, will the YM dispersiment show up in the Young Men category, or one of the Budget Allocations: Young Men subcategories?

No. The subcategories of Budget:Budget Allocations are simply there because there was some income into those categories over the last 4 years. I can't explain why you have duplicates, but those aren't really useful categories going forward. I would just transfer the money from those categories into Budget:Budget Allocations and hope they go away. They are a quirk of the conversion, and will be different for different wards. The fact that you have no Budget:Budget Allocations:Primary category is a clue that these aren't generally useful categories. Your expenses should come about of Budget:Primary, Budget:Young Men, etc.

I would simply deposit the stake check into Budget:Budget Allocations. That's the category that future automatic allocations will go into each quarter, so it makes sense to put this one-time check into that same category.

3b. There is only one automatic quarterly budget allocation, and it will go into Budget:Budget Allocations. From there, you can make transfers into whatever subcategories of Budget you want, based on the allocation of budget funds to various organizations approved by the bishop.
