I have an individual who is not a member of our ward, but is contributing the missionary fund for his nephew. He sent me an e-mail indicating that a couple of donations were erroneously entered under his name rather than his parents, the grandparents of the missionary in our ward.
How do I change the donor from the uncle to the grandparents? Again, this is for a donation in 2018.

Re: 2018 Donor Assignment Adjustment
It's been a while since I've been finance clerk, but I know the church understands making adjustments to a batch from a prior year is sometimes necessary. For example, NSF checks that you don't hear about until January. Make the corrections to the batch and reprint any tax-ready statements for the parties involved. Don't know the system well enough today to know if you need to resend your finance report up to the stake, but keep that in mind.

Assuming these donations were submitted through the ward and not through donations.lds.org, you should be able to adjust the batch in MLS. You may need to contact the Global Service Center to make sure everything syncs properly and re-generate the affect year-end tax statements.

Re: 2018 Donor Assignment Adjustment
My understanding is that as long as the on-line donation was connected to the membership record, the ward can edit it. At least the FAQs indicate that the donation's category can be reclassified.pcox1217 wrote:Assuming these donations were submitted through the ward and not through donations.lds.org, you should be able to adjust the batch in MLS.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

I believe you can also edit the donation in LCR (I can but I'm on the beta program and it's possible it's a beta only thing--but I think it was there before we started the beta). If so, just go to Finance > Donations in LCR, find the correct donation batch, find the correct (or rather incorrect) donor, click on the donor name, click Adjust Donation, then Change Donor. After you save the change it will offer to print report of the change which should be filed with the documentation for the donation batch. Personally I like to make a little note by the donation in the original batch report so that if it's reviewed in the audit I remember to refer to the updated documentation.pcox1217 wrote:Assuming these donations were submitted through the ward and not through donations.lds.org, you should be able to adjust the batch in MLS.
At that point I would go to the Tithing Settlement page and use the Generate New Statement button on the Year End Statements tab to regenerate the tax statements for both affected donors, verify that the changes show up and distribute them.

Yes, the ward can also edit online donations as long as they are linked to the membership record of a member of the ward.russellhltn wrote:My understanding is that as long as the on-line donation was connected to the membership record, the ward can edit it.
