Auditing discontinued wards

#1

Post by BrainClay »

Our stake dissolved a ward at the end of June, and we have decided to perform an audit on the unit. However, we have found a couple problems that we don't know how to handle:

1. Neither the bishop nor financial clerk are able to download the June financial statement. Nor do they have access to LUFAS or LCR at all. How do we get around this?

2. There were funds left in the Other Account at the time the ward was dissolved. How do we clear out those funds and transfer them to the appropriate wards?

The stake will have to print the report for them or, if that is not possible, give the former ward a copy of the pertinent pages from the stake report to review and sign. They no longer have access because they no longer have callings in the ward, since it was discontinued.

It used to be that the stake loaded the unit finance program onto a stake administrative computer to clear out any items such as this. Or if you still have it, the stake clerk might use the ward computer. Either of these options should also enable you to print the monthly financial statement.

Because the ward has been discontinued, the audit may have to be done manually (print out the form, fill it out, and send it in). The chairman of the stake audit committee (a counselor in the stake presidency) should be able to contact the assistant area auditor or the Finance Department to obtain instructions.
