Donation Envelopes

Wondering if any one else has this problem.

For some reason our ward goes through more donation envelopes than receipts. This leaves us in a position of not enough envelopes. Also apparently you can not order envelopes with out receipts. It would be nice if envelopes could be ordered separately.

Does any one have any suggestions for this?

Thanks

Our ward stuffs the envelopes with the receipts in advance so anyone who takes an envelope get a receipt.

Our bishop uses this as a good opportunity for fast-offering recipients to "give back".

This is a perfect example of the 12 hot dogs to a package and 8 buns to a package scenario.

I have been inquiring with Distribution Services about this and so far have made no head way. They claim there is not a way to order donation envelopes without the receipts. We have the same problem in our ward and have a dozen or more receipt packages.

I've also been trying to get them to print all nine-digit zip codes on the envelopes with corresponding zip+4 bar code but that failed as well. All we can do is keep trying.

My experience was the opposite. Because we used so many donation slips with fast offering envelopes (and no corresponding donation envelope), we would run out of donation slips before donation envelopes.

So you might try asking around other wards in your stake to see if they need some donation slips.

Aside from that, I wouldn't worry about it. We're talking about a few dollars a year at most that is wasted. It's nice to be frugal, but it doesn't seem to be that big of a deal. Creating separate ordering processes for slips and envelopes might well cost the Church more than wasting a few slips now and then.

You might want to save the receipts somewhere. Besides fast offerings, we are starting to use them from folks making donations with their bank's bill-pay service.

Both of these mirror what most units in our stake do as well. I haven't noticed a surplus or deficit of slips to envelopes in the last several orders of donation envelopes. They always seem to have a 1:1 ratio: 2 packs of 250-count donation slips per 500-envelope box (or was it 4 packs per box of 1000?).
