MLS Startup Time

Just curious how long it takes MLS to start up for you guys? Our computer takes 5-10 for the program to open up. Seems like a long time in the computer world. Anyone else experience this?

5-10 what? Minutes? Way too long. Seconds? Depending on the age of the computer and if it's still completing it's post-bootup tasks, that's about right.

If that is 5-10 minutes, ask your stake technology specialist to look into it. Most computers in use today can get going more quickly than that. If your timing includes start up of the computer from being totally powered of, yes, it will take a little longer while Windows gets going.

But it shouldn't take 5 minutes.

When we received the Dell OptiPlex 740 computers five years ago, they were running Windows XP with (I think) 1 GB (or less) of RAM. Everyone complained that it took MLS several minutes to start up. When Sophos 9 was installed, it got worse. Then Tivoli and Sophos 10 came, and I had to increase the RAM in all admin computers to 2 GB.

Yeah 5 to 10 minutes just for the program to startup. I'll talk to the technology guy in the stake.

If it helps any, there is a push to replace all computers still running XP. If your machine is that old, then there's the answer.
