Reducing finance audit exceptions

Post by paulbrooking »

I am a Stake Clerk and would like to know of some way to help Ward Finance Clerks have a means of doing pre-audit testing to try to reduce numbers of exceptions they receive on their audits. Any suggestions?

The audit checklist is available in MLS. I, as a unit clerk, use it just as an auditor will with one exception. Instead of the sample inspections, every donation and every expense is checked. I do this far enough in advance (weeks) to permit contacting donors and those receiving disbursements when needed. It usually takes several hours to check everything on the audit checklist, including every donation batch and every expense disbursement. The time spent doing this is well worth it.
