Category Changes to Other in Latest Update
Several categories have been moved to the Other account with the latest MLS update. The Other account is non tax deductable and was wondering why the changes? Also, I don't believe that the most of the members are aware of these changes and could be surprises at the end of the year. I know that is not the reason to contribute but still many members take that into consideration. Would you suggest that some mini training be conducted by the Ward Clerk in priesthood and RS to inform members?

I haven't noticed any automatic recategorization like you are describing. Could you give a specific example?bgant wrote:Several categories have been moved to the Other account with the latest MLS update. The Other account is non tax deductable and was wondering why the changes?
Note that it has always been the case that some subcategories of "Other" are indeed tax deductible (such as Humanitarian Aid, Temple Patron Fund, Perpetual Education Fund, etc.). It's just the subcategories of "Other:Authorized Member Financed Activities" that are not tax deductible.

There is no change regarding whether an account in Other is tax deductible. Contributions to the Humanitarian Fund, the Temple Patron Fund, and other similar funds that were listed separately as you prepared the deposit are now all combined under Other.bgant wrote:Several categories have been moved to the Other account with the latest MLS update. They were a part of the Other Account before. They simply are no longer listed separately. If an Other sub-category was considered a charitable contribution before the change, it is still a charitable contribution.
