Canadian Tax reciept for donations has wrong address

#1

Post by angordon »

Hi we have two member of our ward here in Canada that have made donations in 2011, they received a tax donation statement (Canadian version) but the wrong address is printed on the form. They have some concerns about the people who prepare their taxes having concerns about this as they also deal with other programs about special needs.
IS there a way to correct the donor address for Canadian tax receipts?

There is a way to update the address in MLS. First thing you want to do is verify that the address is correct on the member's record because this is where the address for the donor generally comes from. If it is correct on the member's record then you can go in to the "Add/Update Donor" screen in the Finances section and you can update the address for the member in there. That should solve your issue.

Have you tried finding your answer on the LDS Tech Wiki?

Good if you can fix it, but if the wrong address is wrong because it was the donor's previous address, it should not be an issue (if a Canadian address).
I'm sure lots of Canadians (LDS or not) donate to a door-to-charity (like Heart Fund) and then move during the year to a new Canadian address. That would not make all of those issed-at-the-door receipts invalid.
