Funds Remaining in Returned Ward Missionary Accounts

After a ward missionary has returned, what should be done with the funds remaining within that account? Should these funds be directed into the general church missionary fund? Can these funds be allocated to other ward missionaries currently serving or missionaries who are nearing departure?

See the wiki article Ward Missionary Funds for some details.

Basically, funds donated to the Ward Missionary account can be used for any missionaries in the ward as the bishop directs. If there are surplus funds beyond the needs of the missionaries serving from the ward, the surplus should generally be sent to the stake. If the stake has a surplus, they will know where to send it.
