I pulled in a wrong record which has no prior geo code/ward

Can anyone assist?

We have a member moving into our ward.
I was asked to pull his record.
I put in his correct name but the wrong day in date of birth.
I added his new address, email, and phone.
When the record was pulled into my ward it showed a sister's name.
Obviously this is the wrong record.
Please note this members name is almost completely different from the one entered.
Only the sister's middle name is the same.
There is no GEO code either and they are in a different country too.
Question:
How do I send back a record to where ever it came?
I have no GEO code nor other info to submit a move out request.
What do I do? Anyone
Sincerely,
Bro. Butler

If you check the Bishop/Clerk copy of the IOS it will have the previous wards information.

The IOS won't have it - what you're referring to is the membership record itself. Something only the clerk and the Bishop should have access to.

If it was me, I think I'd call up Local Unit Support and explain it. Perhaps they have a way of reversing it that would work better than simply sending it back to the old ward.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Biggles, Thank you. I know what you are meaning to say. You can often see the GEO code too if you check under new move-ins but in this case the record received is an inactive member with no past contact information. I can only think of sending it back to SLC's lost membership Database.

Russelhltn, Thank you, That's my thought as well. But without any prior info at all it is sad. All we have on this record is the Rec#, place of birth, DOB, member name, baptism date, and birth parents. Its a very basic.
as Membership Clerk I normally see much more except if the member is a lost lamb.
I will try support again but voice message says closed on Sundays.

Brethren, an Update.
I went back to the clerk's office and found a printout labeled;
"Membership Record Update Report".
This printout did have the prior Branch and District.
I have since returned the record back to its prior location.

Thank you

Prior unit is also listed on the member's profile at Leader and Clerk Resources.

You may also want to use CDOL to contact the unit you sent the record back to, because when you sent it back it will not have her address on it anymore. They may still have an old printout or an unsynched device that they can use to put the old contact information back into the record.
