Help With mormon.org Account

My son is unable to create his mormon.org profile and it appears to be caused by a problem with his lds.org account. We have tried on multiple computers and multiple web browsers, even when we have confirmed it works with other lds.org accounts (such as mine or another child's). The steps to recreate are: a) navigate to mormon.org b) Select any option underneath the Profile menu c) login using lds.org credentials and the result is:

In Chrome:

This webpage is not available

LessReload
Google Chrome's connection attempt to mormon.org was rejected. The website may be down, or your network may not be properly configured.
Check your Internet connection.
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.
Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server...
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to Applications > System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies and deselect any proxies that have been selected.
Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

In Firefox:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at mormon.org.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Is there anyone here that can look into this? We tried sending feedback on the web site and received no response. We also tried providing feedback on lds.org and got an unhelpful response:

It appears that your LDS Account should be working just fine at this point. Go ahead and try using it, if any more problems occur please email us back.

Here are the instructions on how to create a Mormon.org profile.

When you follow the instructions above, where are you getting stuck?

One oddity I've noticed is that http works, but https gets you a "can't connect" message.

Thanks, for the tip. We were using http to access mormon.org, but the redirect after authentication was changing it to https. We ended up switching to http again after the redirect and that worked. Clearly a bug with the site.
