Hello my name is Rodger Daley I have worked in construction and driving most of my life and it was always seasonal type of a situation and the winter always bringing the worry of not making it through which I usually did but now that i have 6 kids its a lot harder well almost two years ago I was laid off for the winter and because of the economy was never called back and I searched and searched for a new job but was not able to find another so i decided to go to school to earn a bachelors degree in computer networking. I have always have had a passion for computers and technology and how they work had always come easy to me. And to my surprise Since may 2009 I have maintained a 4.0 gpa been on the deans list 7 consecutive times. All the job postings I have found need alot of experience much more then i have. So I guess what I truly want to know is there intern or entry level posistions for this type of job or has this been a waste of my time and money . I truly hope not because this is where my passions lie. Thank you Rodger

I am not aware if there are entry level positions at Church Headquarters. I believe there are. But, I would strongly suggest that you contact your ward employment specialist, who will be able to help you get started in the best direction for your personal experience and needs.

Truly it can be any where for the Church or out in the public but I can't find the entry level networking jobs any where a Church job would be very cool but I would take anything I could find.

Roger,

I am in computer networking (worked for a telecom equipment manufacturer for 10 years). I have been intrigued by the idea of working for the church for a long time and watched for an opportunity to come up, but the Church has not (yet?) posted anything that I thought was a good fit. However, I can say that there are jobs to be had for those in computer networking. If you are coming out of a degree program with excellent grades (and possibly willing to relocate - depending on where you live), I would be really surprised to learn that you couldn't find a job - even in today's economy.

Your school should have a job placement program that can help you find a job. This is the place that companies come to hire new grads. And I would suspect that you could leverage your maturity and stability when compared to the typical new grad. Also, as lajackson mentioned, your ward employment specialist may be able to help and allow you to build on what people already know about you.

Good luck, and don't forget to lean on the Lord to guide and help you. He is there, and He cares!
