Database vs. Programmer?

Postby KendallSpackman » Tue Sep 03, 2013 5:12 pm

My name's Kendall Spackman. I'm a sophomore in Logan, UT and am debating between a degree in MIS or CS, and probably would minor in the other. My question is: What is more in demand?

After perusing the LDS Jobs, I feel like there are a lot more opportunities in the CS side of things; maybe because you're opening up to dozens of programming languages, whereas in MIS you're restricting yourself to one. I also feel like there are more entry-level positions in the CS route. Comments?

As I understand CS (Computer Science) relate to technology it self (development).
Instead MIS (Management Information System) relate how to use it (technology I mean).
That said, if I'm not wrong, MIS is surely most widely needed than CS. There are more jobs in using the tech than in developing it.
