Comments about notebook feature on new.lds.org

First of all, I am extremely excited about this feature! I love the ability to organize notes and how my stored notes are available when reading the articles or scriptures.

Below are a few comments/wishes for the notebook feature:

- Multiple notes per paragraph. Currently, notes seem to apply at the paragraph level. I can, of course, put all my thoughts about a paragraph into a single note, but then I may easily bump into the 4000 character limit.

[Earlier, I also mentioned this for highlights, but now I see that you can edit highlights and move the start and end of the highlights. That's really cool!]

Maybe another way to look at this request is to provide the ability to add a note to a highlight.

- Links in notes: I understand that you probably don't want to create a tool that requires knowledge of HTML in order to put links in notes (e.g. the HTML "a" tag with href="..."), but it seems that this currently works...sort of. If I go back to my notes, it shows the bare HTML, but then if I edit the note and save it, it goes back to displaying a clickable link.

Since there is other important material that is outside of new.lds.org that I would like to reference from my notes, it would be nice to have a supported way to embed links into notes.

- Are my notes included when I search new.lds.org? It doesn't seem that they are.

- The ability to show/hide individual notes.

Thanks again for this wonderful feature!

A few more thoughts:

- Ribbons or bookmarks. This is the online equivalent of the ribbons that hang out of our paper scriptures. You have a limited number of them that can only mark one place in the scriptures at a time. We could create a few bookmarks and then have the ability to place them anywhere that the notebook features are available. Placing a bookmark would remove it from where it used to be and drop it into the new location.

- Another thing I've noticed is that sometimes I want to associate some comments to a tag in my notebook. For example, I was just learning about the idea of "take up your cross" and it occurred to me that it would be a good tag to mark a variety of related places in the scriptures, so I created the tag. But I also wanted to put a short summary of how I understood "take up your cross", but I couldn't find a place to put that summary. It would be nice to be able to add some text to the tag, itself (i.e. the page that shows when I click on a tag from the "My Tags" page in my notebook.

Lastly, is this something that falls under the open source area of development for the church (or that could be developed in that way)? I appreciate the ability to provide feedback on this forum, but it would be better to be able to propose a development project, have a way to prototype the ideas, and contribute to the design/implementation of these ideas.

Thanks,
Arthur
