I received a query from a sister about a broadcast
last Saturday or Sunday memorializing the early saints by the Mormon Tabernacle choir. She asked if she could find an audio recording of the broadcast somewhere online... Any ideas?

If she doesn't have the ability of watching a rebroadcast of the concert -
July 24, 2010
  • 5:00 p.m.
  • BYU TV
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Pioneer Commemorative Concert will be rebroadcast on BYU TV. The theme of this year’s Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert will be a celebration of one hundred years of recording by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
perhaps someone else could record it for her?

The satellite specialist was probably authorized to record the broadcast to put it into the library for checkout. If he did so, it will be available there.

Otherwise, rebroadcasts on BYU-TV are the only other online option, unless the Church puts it up on their site.

I should not be available generally online otherwise, because the entire broadcast is subject to copyright protection.

Because of Intellectual Property restrictions the Pioneer Day Commemoration could only be streamed once via Internet and will not be available online for further streaming or download.

In our stake, any member that choose to view the program over the internet (the program are broadcast in Portuguese in LDS.org) have problems and can't stream. All these people (inclusing I'm) lost the program because it's not recorded at Stake level. Any chance to rebroacast once one time the program for record or show?

Unless something else is going on, I think the church satellite system shows BYU-TV, so I'd try recording when BYU does a rebroadcast.

Yes, but when "Portuguese Language Channel" is setup "on", we receive BYU International Television channel, not BYU Television in English. The two channels are a little bit different.

Unfortunately there is no way we can re-stream the program. When we received complaints about it only being streamed once on LDS.org we went back to the Intellectual Properties office and asked them if we could re-stream the event. The told us that because of the footage contained in the broadcast it was only licensed for one time streaming via Internet.

Is there a reason why it cannot be streamed a second time on the Internet and yet it's being carried multiple times over BYU Television since the original broadcast? Just curious

Good question. Yes there is a reason--That is the way the licensing agreement was arranged and that is what was paid for.
