Hello All, I'm the ward clerk and I'm trying to help one of our members get his Patriarchal blessing appointment set up. We are a the only Spanish speaking ward in our stake and we normally have our members go to a different Patriarch so that they may receive it in Spanish. We normally just print the recommend from MLS and have the Bishop and a member of the stake presidency sign it. Member with the recommend calls the Patriarch for an appointment and that's it. But 2 weeks ago when the member called the Patriarch he told him that this has to be done through LDS.org now. We created a LDS.org user name and password for the member and the submit button is grayed out for him. I've logged in and tried under my account and same deal. The Bishop tried with his account and same deal, the submit button is not active for any of our accounts. The Patriarch is determined to follow the instructions from his Stake president to make sure this is done online but I don't know what else to do to help our brother get his blessing. This is a brother who was inactive for a while is now coming back to church and trying to do better and this is not helping him. Any help with this issued will be greatly appreciated.

The bishop starts a recommendation in the patriarchal blessing application. He should be able to click the submit button if he is logged in to his LDS account and the online submission is available in your area.

If he can't then I would call the global servic centre and ask them to check it out.

Hello and thanks for your reply. The Bishop has tried a few times already and he's not able to do it either. Do you know the number for the global service center? Again thanks for your help.

Looking over the help file, it says the Stake President has to activate the system before it's usable. However, if that was the case, I'd think they'd run into a problem before the submit button.

It is possible that the stake to which the Spanish-speaking member will receive his blessing is using the online system, whereas the stake where you live is not yet using the online system. If that is the case, your stake president may need to make the decision to move online, or else he will have to work out something with the other stake president and patriarch.

He will also need to have the MRN of the patriarch in the other stake to complete the online approval process.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I've spoken with the stake president from the other stake and he can submit the electronic request . For now the solution is we'll send a copy of the recommend to the stake president from the other stake and he will submit the electronic recommend. I spoke with the people at the global service center and they are the ones that suggested this solution and told me that this electronic submission program is not available for us yet. Again thanks all for your help.

Either it hasn't been completely rolled out, or your stake president hasn't turned it on.

I see a letter on OCL dated January 2015 announcing it. But careful reading of the "To" suggests it wasn't for all stakes just then.

Yeah to be honest I didn't really question their answer and when I spoke with the Patriarch's Stake president he didn't seem to questioned it either. I'm just glad that it is done and that we found for now a system that will work. I've since talked with our Stake president and the Stake clerk and they are both looking into this to see if there's a way to activate this for our Stake. Again thanks for all your help.
