Randomly multiplying entries

Sometime over the course of my using the Notes/Journal tool an issue has occurred and several highlighted scriptures or comments/thoughts have randomly multiplied. For example I can find the same John 3:18 entry over 50 times and Mornoni 10:3 perhaps as many as 500 times. I have over 3500 entries and I should have less than 100.

is there a way that I can delete multiple entries at once or do I have to go through all 3500 individually? Has anyone else faced this issue?

Why isn't there an "Empty" button like there is in the Trash can? Who should I contact to have that added?
