e-mail Management

The info I'm looking for has probably already been posted, but I was not able to locate it.

From what I've been able to ascertain, there are potentially seven e-mail addresses that can be associated with a given member.

From one's LDS account:
1. Primary e-mail
2. Alternate e-mail
3. Ward Directory e-mail

In lds.org directory:
4. Household e-mail
5. Individual e-mail

In MLS:
6. Household e-mail
7. Individual e-mail

Will someone explain to me the relationships between each of the e-mail addresses and which are synced between lds.org and MLS, etc? I assumed that #'s 4 and 5 are the same as #'s 6 and 7 and could be edited in both lds.org and MLS and synced both directions between the two. But that doesn't appear to be the case, as I found that one sister's Indiv e-mail in MLS (#7) doesn't show in the lds.org directory (#5) (it's blank).

By the way, this all came about when I was investigating why some members weren't receiving a calendar event e-mail reminders. I think I discovered that those reminders go to one's indiv e-mail (#5), but can someone confirm that?

Thanks.

Like you, I believe that 6&7 are the same as 4&5. Looking at my information, my #3 is the same as #5/7. But #1 and #2 (which for me is blank) does not match anything else.

Have you verified that it is truly blank, or might it appear blank on the Directory because of the visibility setting?

If it is truly blank, I would note that on occasion I have seen some cases where the sync has not worked properly. Any edits made to such data in either MLS or the Directory cause them to get back in sync and I've never seen a subsequent problem with that data.

Yes, reminders go to individual email (#5); I know that my wife gets different calendar reminders than I do. The one detail I'm not sure of is if a person has no individual email address but their household does have an email address, will reminders go to the household? I would guess not, but I don't know.
