Use LDS.org to Transfer Files from Church to Home Computer

It would be a nice feature in the leadership tools section of LDS.org to have a file upload/download location.

The problem has arrisen that in the clerks office, we can only access lds.org, so rather than emailing files to ourselves that we need to take home with us, (ex. a spreadsheet doc) we have to bring in a thumb drive to transfer it. If the site had an upload/download feature, then we could upload it to our account on lds.org and then download it from our computer at home.

The current solution is to use a thumb drive but I never have one on me and I could potentially be exposing the church computer to a virus when inserting my thumb drive. The file transfer tool online could also contain a basic virus scanner when uploading and downloading files.

It could also be shared storage location for all leadership which would assist in sharing important files such as leadership meeting agendas and so on.

That seems like overly restrictive LDS Access meetinghouse internet settings. I would suggest talking to your stake assistant clerk technology specialist and see if they can look into getting the meetinghouse internet filter loosened up a notch. We can get to gmail with our meetinghouse internt LDS Access filter settings. Then you can just create a draft email message and attach a file.

Another thought. If you can get to tech.lds.org, I believe you can upload attachments here. Of course you wouldn't want to upload it to a public forum though. But in a private message you should be able to upload an attachment, then download it later to another computer.

It would require approval of the Stake President.
