For those of us not at Temple Square or in Utah, the answer from an international perspective to such a local problem is a resounding: "I don't know."
The answer to your second question seems obvious: tell someone at the one of the Temple Square visitors center reception desks. Or even better, write it on one of those comment cards in the visitors center and put it in the drop box or hand it to one of the missionaries.
