LDS Professional Directory

It would be great to have a directory of LDS Professionals - both at the Stake level and also at the church-wide level. When moving to a new town it would be nice to see if there was a local Doctor or Dentist who was LDS. Also, if I'm relocating I could more easily contact someone to ask about the local economy and job markets. This would also foster more networking among LDS professionals so that we can migrate towards good companies and family-friendly work environments.

Also, members could indicate if they're looking for work or not - so if I had an opening I could ping those members to see if they'd be interested. Kind of like linked-in, only more useful. This would also help the Church - because we could appeal directly to people in a specific profession for input, assistance, etc.

I know that members of the Jewish community actively refer people to other Jewish businesses and professionals to help their fellow members. We could easily do something similar. Also, I'd be happier working with an LDS business because I'd be more confident that the work would be good, the price would be fair, and the profits would be tithed. :)

I have joined the LDS Professionals group on the professional networking site called LinkedIn. That's helpful at a Church-wide level.

Your idea for the local level though has some merit.
