Stake PFR

#1

Post by stobrien-p40 »

I have been stake PFR now for 3 years and I have come to realize that it would be of great advantage to me in this position if we were able to track on line what is being done to our buildings when work orders are complete. look past on the past year and review how quick our request are processed. Possible place our own work orders without going through our local FM manger or Mechanic. There is often something lost when we email our needs and then someone else enters the information into there system.

Has the church ever considered something like this?????

Good PFR Response

While I can't speak for the majority of the FM (facility maintenance) groups, I can truthfully say that our group does a good job. I serve as the STS (stake technical specialist). When something needs to be repaired, I contact the PFR for the stake, who is also a member of the stake high council, who then forwards the request to our FM group.

The response has always been good. I suppose a large part of this depends upon the organizational skills of the FM group. Ours has an excellent Office Assistant who's very organized and keeps good records.

I agree that it would be handy to have on-line access to something that indicates the status of work orders, etc. But, the turn-a-round time of work orders and other activities would still be organized and controlled through the FM group since that's their area of responsibility.

If work were submitted outside of the FM group it would be very difficult to control.

I am not saying our Local FM is doing a bad job, but I do know that they are very busy as they cover a large area with 35 buildings and more being built.
It would be nice if I could check on line the situation with the work that I have requested, as I am not able to go around our stake to confirm that it is done when I am asked by our Stake President.
Yes I am a member of the High Council in our stake. :)

Hello to all. I have been our Stake PFR for about 3 years now. Everyone on the HC cringes when the current PFR is about to be released.

Maybe some of my experiences can help you.

1. If your font is always too hot, reduce the temperature on the water heater from the church standard of 130 degrees to 100 degrees. It works for us.
2. If your A/C and Heat does not seem to respond like it does at home, check your sending thermostats. Most sending thermostats are mounted on block walls. Block walls are always 4-5 degrees colder than the room temperature. Then fight with your FM group to change the real thermostat to compensate for the block wall.
