New Meeting House Webcasting S/W V2.1

#1

Post by Paulbb1 »

We have a mini-tower computer setup for webcasting stk conf. It has a Osprey 210 video and sound capture card. We have used it to encode stk conf and RS firesides. When using Windows Media Encoder (WME) everything works fine. I just have to keep interupting the support person's Sundays to get the servers connected and streaming.

When using the beta version of the Meeting House Webcasting software we couldn't get the sound to work. Reported it to the address specified. Also requested that the sound bar be displayed on the next version and they did it! But the sound still is not being encoded. The sound bar in the device selection menu shows sound bar going up and down but when encoding there is no sound bar movement at all.

I know that the WME is still in the background doing the encoding. Why is it not working for the Meeting House Webcasting front end? Is it a driver problem. I installed the latest drivers for the card.

Any suggestions? I am at the bring of my knowledge. I have sent this issue to the support group.

Maybe it's the Osprey card?

I work with the Osprey 210 card where I work- we use it to record counseling sessions that can then be replayed in training. I had some difficulty getting the sound to encode. The solution that worked for us was to route the sound mike through a soundboard first (using phantom power to power the mic), then run that into the Osprey card. I don't know if this would work in your case or not. Even so, we still have difficulties with getting the sound as loud as we'd like, but it gets high enough to work. I'm not familiar with how the meeting to meeting broadcasting works (yet), but if the mic can be isolated, you might be able to determine at what point the silence is being 'produced'- is it an encoding error (sound produced, but not encoded), or is it a sound error (encoding correctly recording 'nothing'). Dunno if that will help or not.

The sound is coming from the building sound system via a VCR connected to the system.

The Sunday issues are we really only support the Meetinghouse Webcast Communicator and the new downloadable Software solution. We just don't have the manpower here to support everyone's "one-off" solution and connecting them to our servers.

Sound not encoding

It I remember right your group suggested the 210 because you have 230 version that works but costs over $300. The 210 is in $170 range. I have yet to see a published list of capture cards that do work with the sw. Without that list how can I be a 'one-off'. Please tell me what to buy.

Cannot get Webcast SW Ver 2.1.0.1 to open link in MediaPlayer11

I can run the Meetinghouse Webcast SW Ver 2.1.0.1 just fine (see my video in the tool and such), but any time a launch the URL provided in the tool I get the Windows Media Player error:
"Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted."
I've tried this on several different computers with various Windows OSes (XP, Vista, Win7, Server2008) and various firewall settings (even Windows firewall OFF) and I cannot get past this error.
I cannot even get the URL to work on my local machine hosting/sourcing the video and audio. All the system tools in the Webcast software indicate video/audio and system checks are okay. HELP?????
