underscore in MLS standard position names

Are you the stake clerk? Are you making these changes in the stake MLS? I'm guessing not since it cannot set ward chorister. Bishop is a calling that must be entered/changed in the stake MLS using theLeader and Unit Change Request.

I could see how the Bishop might need some kind of approval, but this was just the counselors, exec sec, and clerk. Any suggestions?

We can see from this post that the ward clerk also goes through a manual approval process, so I wouldn't be surprised if the others you listed do as well. The bishop, of course, goes through a different, more rigorous approval process, and his calling is set in stake MLS.
