MLS 2.8 Summary of Whats New

#31

Post by pete_arnett-p40 »

1) Confidential Forms and now you can do a save with a password (new)
2) Financial (Bank) Statements for the past year (new)
3) Print Certifications and Forms (some may be new)
4) MLS System Options for Calendar to Year Budget (new) - Default is unchecked
5) Other donations did show on the Donor Official Tax Statement when tested with Test Unit (new)

6) Quarterly Report Changes MLS 2.8 Release Notes
Alan_Brown wrote:The changes were detailed in a letter dated 25 February 2008 to bishops and stake presidents. There is now a lot more detail required on recent converts, with specific data entered for each convert by name. This new information must be entered in the 1st Quarter 2008 report (due April 15), so everyone has to be on MLS 2.8 before then (which will certainly happen now).

This is great news for bishops, mine had to get one of the forms while I was an executive secretary, and it was somewhat difficult to do so as it was.

Now that that is taken care of, what about the other nonconfidential forms other leaders might need? Like the 'activity plan' form or even some new ones that could be generated like meeting agendas and other things?

Some could be in PDF form only, some on the system only, and some could be both so they could be filled in and printed out if desired but if information is otherwise needed elsewhere they could print a blank out and take it to wherever they need it (like meeting agendas so they could fill it out elsewhere, then use it, or come back and fill it in later.

I'd think that's something used only at the local level so each unit would be free to make their own form. As such, it sounds like a job better suited to OpenOffice then MLS. Am I missing something? Would MLS have any information that would be used to pre-fill the forms?

Almost all administrative-related forms are available in PDF format through www.ldscatalog.com. You have to login as the unit, and then you will have access to the forms (Unit Administration --> Forms). Choose which form you want, and it will have the option of saving the PDF format or ordering from SLC in paper format. Activity Plan is there...

New Member Report Fields in 2.8

#37

Post by opee »

Does anyone know what happened to the fields for "Lessons" and "Church Attendance" on the New Member Report for MLS 2.8? It appears that the New Member Report is no longer editable by the Clerk--it is just an automatic report showing name, dates, and callings. Did the input data get moved to another area or is it no longer necessary to track through MLS?

Sacrament Meeting attendance for each new convert is now part of the Quarterly Report, rather than the New Member Report (see the 25 February 2008 letter from the Presiding Bishopric titled Revised Quarterly Report). The lessons are no longer tracked in MLS (see the MLS 2.8 Release Notes).

Anyone know, the message we got on MLS about the new software stated we could download it and install it from MLS.LDS.ORG, but it wants a unit # and pasword for a BETA unit.
Where can we get it with a high speed connection and take it to the ward to install it?

Thanks...

I'm not sure what you are saying. I was able to download the non-beta installer and install It a few days ago without any suprises.

Yes, the site does ask for unit number/password. You need to talk to your Stake Technology Specialist or Stake Clerk for that information.
