At this time it's still showing 2.7 with 2.8 being beta.

The current version is still the beta version (b8) but it is a pretty solid build based on beta feedback. If everything stays as planned, the official release will be next weekend.

Post by pete_arnett-p40 »

From headquarters:

"When the 2.8 software is loaded it will read them into the finance section of the software.
Each month we will now send you your statements via MLS".

Also, from another posting on this site, it appears that unit's will find the Nov 2007, Dec 2007 and Jan 2008 bank statements in new version of MLS 2.8

The new version will be released on Sunday, 02Mar and downloaded to everyone on Sunday, 09Mar

Yes, thank you. There were actually two postings from HQ already. Two of the three posters right before you are actually employees of the Church. However, keep in mind that moderating is volunteer and most of the time does not equal church employment.

Post by pete_arnett-p40 »

One of our Bishops emailed the following this a.m., Sat 23Feb2008

"Just to let you know that I was working on the PC on Saturday and the new version 2.8 downloaded automatically."

Note: as others have posted, the download web site still says "beta"

In the note that came out today, we are told:

This version of MLS (2.8) needs to be installed before the end of the first quarter to support priesthood council directed changes to the Quarterly Reports.

Do you know what the "Priesthood council directed changes to the Quarterly Reports" are?

Hopefully when you install it you'll get a Release Notes icon on your desktop.

I had wondered about that interesting paragraph in the MLS 2.8 Release Notes. Gratefully, the MLS developers clearly knew about the changes long before local priesthood leaders were informed, although the order in which the information came out made the MLS Release Notes a bit cryptic until now.

The changes were detailed in a letter dated 25 February 2008 to bishops and stake presidents. There is now a lot more detail required on recent converts, with specific data entered for each convert by name. This new information must be entered in the 1st Quarter 2008 report (due April 15), so everyone has to be on MLS 2.8 before then (which will certainly happen now).

Interesting. It seems to be a return to some of the prior pre-MLS formats.
