I haven't seen REFIS in our FHC, so maybe the stake is taking care of it all. In which case maybe I don't need to worry.

REFIS 2.2c was released in Feb 2000 and is a very old FoxPro Runtime and is in use FHC, Temples and by other church related groups that need a simple accounting system

From what I have been told, REFIS maybe (10) years old or oder

Based on info from this thread and some posted on the LDS Clerks mail list, I talked to my FHC directory a few weeks ago about converting from REFIS. Conincidentally he had talked to the REFIS guru in SLC and had received the instructions and a very short user guide for the finance-only version of MLS.

I subsequently talked to SLC and had them send us the laser checks. Last Friday evening we followed the instructions and installed the FHC account as an additional unit on the stake MLS machine. As noted previously in this thread, we created some sub categories under Other. All went well.

I think it will be very convenient to have both the stake and FHC accounts on one machine.

Oh yeah, I had upgraded to MLS 2.8 prior to adding the FHC unit. Whereas we now have access to a years' worth of statements for the stake, there were only four available in the FHC unit.

Subject: New Financial Software Information
From: FHCSupport@ldsmail.net
Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2008 11:37:57 -0600

Dear Family History Center Director,

The Church Finance Department has developed a financial software package, Member and Leader Services (MLS) Finance Only System, to replace the current REFIS package. This new financial package is based on the same software that wards and stakes currently use to manage finances. It will enable you to continue to report deposits, begin printing checks, and produce the same kind of reports that are currently used in wards and stakes.

With the use of this new software package you will be receiving your “Church Unit Financial Statement” electronically as the wards and stakes do presently. Your September “Church Unit Financial Statement” will be the last statement sent to you by mail.

Please contact your stake clerk and the stake computer specialist to assist you in converting over to the new system. Please refer to the attached instructions. We ask that you complete this task before 1 September 2008.

If your family history center no longer has a Church Unit checking account and does not use REFIS, please disregard this message.

If you have any questions, please review the attached instructions.

Thank you for your efforts.

Sincerely,
FamilySearch Support
