Annotated Records

I have suggested here before that we need a better way of tracking annotated records. There are really good reasons why this needed to change yesterday. As it stands, the only way a Bishop is aware that a record is annotated is for them to get a Bishop's version of printout of move-ins. (When I asked Confidential Records about this they weren't even aware that was happening - they indicated the only way to know was to contact Confidential Records - but then how would you know to call?). That is at best unreliable. What would be wrong with a flag that indicates a Bishop needs to contact Confidential Records right in the membership record - that only a Bishop would see ...or better yet have Confidential Records contact the Bishop when an annotated record moves.

Let me paint a scenario for you. A pedophile moves into your ward. The Bishop is unaware of this and calls the person to be a Primary teacher of your child. How would you feel? Need I say more? Do we need a crisis before we change this?

This already happens. When a confidential record moves into your ward a letter with the details of the member is mailed to the bishop. When new bishops are called they will receive letters on all of the confidential records currently w/i the ward.

Yes, this satisfies my concern, that is great I wasn't aware that happened. However, you would do well to tell the folks in confidential records because they weren't aware this was happening - at least the person I talked to.
