HT/VT Data in MLS

I was wondering if someone could confirm something for me.

When I make changes to Home Teaching or Visiting Teaching assignments in MLS, do those assignments and relationships get transmitted to Salt Lake? I've heard conflicting answers to this question in the past.

What Home Teaching/Visiting Teaching data gets sent to Salt Lake and what does the Church do with it? As I understand it, at least some statistical information gets sent to the Stake.

It is my understanding that only numbers get transmitted to SLC but that assignments do not.

At minimum there's a backup made about once a month of ward data.

I went poking around the stake MLS last night. In custom reports I find the following fields available for display: Is Home Teacher, Is Visiting Teacher, Home Teachers, Home Teachers with Phone Numbers, Home Teaching Companion, Visiting Teacher, Visiting Teacher with Phone Numbers, Visiting Teaching Companion.

However, in running reports, only the Teachers and Teachers with Phone Numbers worked. All others were blank.

So clearly some HT/VT information is making it up to the stake.

I had not heard of that before, it must be happening for ecclesiastical reasons on the stake level. Perhaps even in just your stake. Can anyone confirm if this is a general practice to create that report or a custom report generated on the stake level of just that stake?

I've seen custom reports before, sometimes they don't print out very well. My HPGL in one leadership I was serving in at the time created one with only those members that were older than 85 in our ward, it may surprise you how many any given ward might have that are that age or older. The problem with making a print of the final result was the formatting of the printout, had no problem with the data.

I did it as a "proof of concept" to figure out what data is available. No one in our stake uses any of those fields that I know of. I can certainly see why the stake might want to know who someone's HT/VT are. But then I'd also think they'd be interested in actual visit pattern, but I didn't notice a way to get that information.
