Ok, I got a second suggestion this time that, apparently, does not need reauthorization.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\LDS Church\MLS
Open udx.properties in notepad
At the very bottom, add the line "udx.reset=1"

Unfortunately for me, the very next send/receive showed the error message again. A third call revealed that the problem is actually with the reports being sent down to the computer from CHQ. Therefore, the reset options fixes the problem only temporarily - until the next report is sent down. So it was suggested that rather than trying to continually reauthorize, we should wait while CHQ fixes the problem on their end.

This is the direction my stake clerk got when he called support. They said they are very aware of the problem and are working on it. Since it didn't interfere with any other functions, they said leave it alone.
