I have been attempting to update our callings to match the standard callings on MLS and found a nicely formatted list under Callings on the wiki but soon discovered that it did not follow the MLS standard callings list. It seems those who put together the wiki list and those who maintain the MLS are not the same people. There is one particular change that I am not sure of. On the MLS, in the Relief Society, there is a Visiting Teacher Supervisor and a Visiting Teaching Leader. I checked on LDS.org under Serving in the Church and in the RS section, they mention the position Visiting Teaching Coordinator. I know we have been advised to always use the MLS standard callings, and I will continue to do so, but sometimes it is really confusing.

That is correct. And I don't see that as changing.zaneclark wrote:It seems those who put together the wiki list and those who maintain the MLS are not the same people.
Rather then rely on the list in the Wiki, I'd suggest using the MLS function for standardizing callings. It's more accurate and probably faster with less effort as well. It takes me all of 10 seconds to verify that everyone is using standardized callings.

I don't recall the exact version of MLS our ward is currently using, but I'm pretty sure it's later than 3.1.2. However, the standard calling list for Relief Society appear to not be updated (there could be others not updated as well). For example, it doesn't include the "Relief Society Meeting Coordinator" as a standard calling, and the "Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment" callings are still listed as standard.
Is there something special I need to do to get MLS to update to the latest calling list like what is shown in the initial post of this thread?

You should have MLS version 3.1.5 installed, the latest version. The Relief Society Meeting Coordinator is listed as a standard position in that version and has been there before version 3.1.2. Version 3.2 is due out real soon. It may include changes to the standard position list yet again.
Do not use the list at the beginning of this thread as your standard. Each version of MLS can include changes to bring the standard positions list to a more current state.
The standard positions in MLS 3.1.5 for Relief Society are:
Relief Society Chorister,
Relief Society Committee Member,
Relief Society Communication Specialist,
Relief Society Compassionate Service Ldr,
Relief Society Education Leader,
Relief Society First Counselor,
Relief Society Home, Family, Personal Enrichment Specialist,
Relief Society Home Mgmt Specialist,
Relief Society Meeting Coordinator,
Relief Society Missionary Specialist,
Relief Society Music Director,
Relief Society Pianist,
Relief Society President,
Relief Society Second Counselor,
Relief Society Secretary,
Relief Society Teacher,
Relief Society Visiting Teacher Supervisor,
Relief Society Visiting Teaching Leader.
You can still use custom positions if the standard positions do not meet your need. Just be aware that access to certain websites depend on calling position. This is not an issue for Relief Society at this time.

Release Notes for Build 8 ?
I know I should be patient, but I'd love for you to post thelajackson wrote:It does not include a change in the area of Relief Society, at least through build 8.
Release Notes for the Beta. New versions always seem to
include things that change how we do clerk work, and it would
be nice to be prepared for the changes for once.
Thanks,
Atticus

The only change in MLS 3.2 of any significance is CUBS Activation, which you can already read about on the wiki by following that link.atticusewig wrote:I'd love for you to post the Release Notes for the Beta.

I ran into a question today that I would like to pose for your comments. We called a Temple Preparation Seminar instructor. When I went to put the position in to MLS, I discovered that this is not a standard position. I created a custom position under Miscellaneous callings, but wondered if that is where the position belongs. Does this instructor function on his own (with direction from the bishop), is this a class under the Sunday School, or an assignment under the High Priests? Something else?
It's not a huge issue - I just wondered how other units handle this calling. No real guidance that I could find in the CHI.
Thanks
