SemiAnnual Interviews Under Bishop's Annual List

Greetings,

In our MLS (3.0.2), We have youth showing up each month that are at the 6 month point after their birthdays.

They should be showing up on the Bishop's Counselor's Interview list - but are instead showing up on the Bishop's list.

Has anyone else reported this? And would anyone have any idea what is causing this anomaly?

Priests & Laurels

Priests & Laurels fall under the jurisdiction of the Bishop. If these youth are ages 16-18 then they are to be interviewed every six months by the Bishop.

Ditto! This bug bit me today.

I'm a new Exec Sec and the bishop had to correct me on bringing in kids for semi-annual interviews that weren't Priests/Laurels.

I told him the report said the interviews were for him and not counselors. I checked the handbook, and of course he was right and MLS was wrong.

The church handbook has about 300 words about the Exec Sec calling -- basically zilch. It would be nice if the MLS helped the exec sec not miss anything. While MLS has some good reports, bugs aren't going to make my life easier.

I am amazed at how many things I am tracking manually.

On page 24 of the Church Handbook of Instructions [2006], it says that the bishop is to interview 16 and 17 year old youth if possible.

As I review what MLS is doing, it puts semiannual interviews for youth 12-15 in the Bishopric Counselor list, and annual interviews for all youth and semiannual interviews for youth 16-17 in the Bishop's list. Are you saying that you are seeing something different from this?

So MLS is helping you to help the bishop interview Priests and Laurels twice a year, as recommended in the Handbook. That's exactly what MLS should be doing.
I think the confusion is that youth younger than 16 are showing up on the list for a bishop's interview.

The youth who are younger than 16 on the bishop's interview list are there for their annual interview, not their semi-annual interview. If you go farther down the Bishopric Action and Interview List, you will see that the younger youth are properly listed to be interviewed by a counselor for their semi-annual interview.

The bishop's list will include the annual interview and the semi-annual interview for priests and laurels.

Was there a glitch in MLS 3.0.2? We are at version 3.0.3 now and the list is correct for our unit. If you are still using 3.0.2 you would probably wish to upgrade to 3.0.3 now.

I find it hard to believe anyone could be on 3.0.2 at this point, since MLS updates itself automatically. The person reporting the problem today said nothing about what version of MLS he was using, so I think it's safe to assume it is 3.0.3 (the post that mentioned 3.0.2 was well over 2 weeks ago).

It would not surprise me if someone is still using 3.0.2. Our ward has occasionally gone at least 2 weeks without doing an MLS update in the past. Also and Exec Sec may not have thought to do an update if he has never done one before.
