Sorting of data in MLS and on reports

I'm trying to understand the pattern of sorting used in MLS and on reports. Two examples:
  • When updating callings for an organization, there is the option of clicking on the column heading to sort the existing callings (to verify the change hasn't already been entered). However, when doing this for 'other callings' of an organization, they don't appear to sort in alpha order, or even group by similarly named callings. I really can't decipher what method of sorting is being presented.
  • In looking through the Callings by Organization report, in the 'Other Callings' section for organizations, there is the same issue of callings not being alpha sorted or grouped together by calling name. We have a fairly large ward, and I've spotted several instances of a member appearing more than once with the same calling because they are scattered in the listing.
.
If I'm missing something here, I would appreciate clarification -- thanks!

When going into an organization in MLS, there's a link "Calling Order" in upper right. That allows you to set the order that callings are placed in. This is because the "calling" order is a hierarchy, not alphabetical.

Thanks for the clarification. I looked at this during the week, and this worked for what I was trying to do. In the future, I think it would be good if there was simply a 'sort alphabetic' option, as each time I add an individual with a calling in the 'Other Callings' category, I have to manually sort the list. We've used a naming convention of callings that would allow an alpha sort in the Other category to work well.
