Donor Statement VS Official Tax Summary Stmnt
Why would a donation to O-Scout camp report in the 2016 Donor Statement of Contributions but not appear in the Annual Charitable Contributions Official Tax Summary Statement?

Because it is not treated as a charitable contribution under U.S. tax laws. It is still a contribution, so it shows on the Statement of Contributions.david.m.merrell wrote:Why would a donation to O-Scout camp report in the 2016 Donor Statement of Contributions but not appear in the Annual Charitable Contributions Official Tax Summary Statement?
Older statements were formatted in a better way, in my opinion, where the other contributions were totaled at the bottom on a second line that indicated they were not charitable contributions. The older statements were much clearer in that regard in my experience.

You'll have to consult with a tax expert to see if the scouting donation is tax-deductible. Generally, if you receive any benefit (perhaps food or lodging for you or your children), it may not be 100% deductible. The church doesn't place any of the authorized member activities on the tax statement.

Russellhltn is correct. Even though the Church does not consider the contribution as a charitable one, part or all of it may be deductible depending on the details of the contribution.
