Custom Finance Report

Brethren,
I performed a search on this thread but came up with no help. I'm a 2 month-old clerk so please be patient.

My stake wants to track a few statistics. One of which is the % of the ward households donating fast offerings.

I want to create a custom report that lists the households and if they donated fast offerings for a given month. I want to do this without opeining up every finance batch and manually checking off a list.

Is there an easier way?

There is a custom report capability in MLS. However, I don't know if what you want can be done with it. Donations are tied to individuals, not households, and I don't know whether the facility has the flexibility to span those two entities.

Also, there may be more limitations on what you can do with finance custom reports than with membership-type custom reports.

Thirdly, there may be some things that should work but don't (as in bugs). A couple of years ago, I had a custom report to print a list of the people assigned to meet with the elders quorum who had callings in primary, YM, or maybe a third auxiliary. It worked fine until a new version of MLS was installed. After that, MLS wouldn't even save the same report that had been working earlier.

Sorry the above came out so negative. On the positive side, there are some custom report capabilities in MLS.

MLS Custom Reports do not provide any access to financial information, so that option is not going to help.

However, you definitely do not need to open up every finance batch. You can run an Income and Expense Report, using Details by Sub-Category and choosing Fast Offering as the category. This will show all donations by donor and date. Sorting by Donor (by clicking on the Donor column heading) will at least group the donations by donor, although any summing of totals per donor or counting of donor families would have to be done manually (since MLS does not allow a copy and paste of financial information to a spreadsheet).
