MLS 3.7.4 Standard Ward Callings List
Here's a list of the new standard Ward callings in MLS 3.7.4. To be exact it's for MLS 3.7.4_23478. It's current as of February 15, 2015.
It includes all the changes that were made in January 2015 which are listed here: https://www.lds.org/help/support/bc/cle ... f?lang=eng

This is another reminder that changes in the standard position list do not necessarily correlate with MLS releases. Positions may be added or removed between releases.

How does one go about proposing new standard callings? Our ward just called an Assistant Cubmaster, which doesn't appear to be a standard calling. I don't know what any long-term goals are regarding Scouting in LCR/MLS. For now, they've been put into a custom position.

Probably the same way one goes about asking for a change to the Handbook <no grin>greenwoodkl wrote:How does one go about proposing new standard callings?
And unless there's some rights over and above being a member that this person needs, a custom position will do just fine.

I don't know of any rights extended to Cubmaster or Den Leaders yet, but they warrant a standard calling. The Boy Scouts get a standard calling of Assistant Scoutmaster. Assistant Den Leaders, Assistant Varsity Coaches, and Assistant Venturing Advisers all get standard callings. The Executive Officer and COR are only listed in the Boy Scouts, though they should apply to Cub Scouts as well.russellhltn wrote:Probably the same way one goes about asking for a change to the Handbook <no grin>greenwoodkl wrote:How does one go about proposing new standard callings?

Are these positions listed in the Handbook or Church manuals at all? It's far easier to add a position that's listed. Because if it's not listed in the literature, that would be a policy change. The church does embrace scouting, but not all of it. So you'd have to make sure that the omitted positions are not part of the "not endorsed" part.greenwoodkl wrote:The Boy Scouts get a standard calling of Assistant Scoutmaster. We only see nursery leader (and that is what the PDF attachment reflects as well). Our nursery workers all show up under "unassigned". Does a custom calling need to be created for nursery workers? Or are there plans to create a standard calling for nursery worker?

What difference do you see between a nursery leader and nursery worker? When I was a clerk we always used 'nursery leader' for everyone working in the nursery. As far as I know, that is the intent of the standard calling.karastucki wrote:We only see nursery leader (and that is what the PDF attachment reflects as well). Re: MLS 3.7.4 Standard Ward Callings List
Are you trying to reflect that someone is the head "Nursery leader" and someone else who works in the nursery are their subordinates, as in a "helper" or an "assistant" to that leader? This may or may not be an important distinction on a printout of callings....what LCR lists and how the nursery operates as directed by the primary president and bishop are two different things, of course.karastucki wrote:We only see nursery leader (and that is what the PDF attachment reflects as well). Afterthought: If it IS important to reflect a hierarchy of callings within the nursery, perhaps a "custom" calling is your only option here...but I think an oral understanding between nursery personnel and the presidency may be sufficient
