Please how can I keep my alternate installation up to date since I cannot do send and receive with it

Alternate installations are not supported.
You didn't say where this alternate installation was installed, but by policy, MLS can not be installed on home computers or donated computers. You can read more in the
Meetinghouse Technology Policy.

http://clerk.lds.org). Many membership changes can be made there too.
