Hi, We use a custom field to record that we have "Verified" the address of a record (meaning that the member does live at that address) or "9Step" (Meaning that we are going to follow the 9 steps suggested by MLS before we send the record to "Address Unknown - USA Research 9990046" file, and we do follow the 9 steps.
Lets say that we transferred a record to another ward,
- does the "Custom Field" and its value "Verified" get transferred to the new ward, I would
think "not" since the new ward does not have the same custome field.
- Lets say that the new ward transfers back the same record to our ward, doe Our Custom
Field get transferred with its "Verified" value in it?
Lets say that we send to the "Address Unknown" file a record with the same Custom field wit a vaoue of "9Step". and after a month or two. They send it back to us to do more research
- does the "Custom Field" and its value "9Step" get transferred to us since we do have a
Custom Field to match the original record?
if the record gets back with th same value it would throw off our system, getting a record that has a value in our custom filed wolu denote that we either have "Verified" it or is already on the "9Step" Process

Custom fields exist only locally in your MLS. So when you send a record out of your ward, it won't have any custom fields connected with it. And when a record comes into your ward (regardless of whether it may have previously been in your ward), it will never have custom fields associated with it, since it couldn't have had any custom fields associated with it in the central membership database.

Thanks,
I think I can use this Custom Field to determine if this is a new membership sent to us resently as it would be blank, and those are the records we want to research.

Thank a lot
