No Web Adminstrator in MLS

#1

Post by bradh »

I cannot find the Stake Web Administrator calling in MLS. Where is it hiding? Also, our stake technology specialist is in MLS, but the calendar administrator list shows it as unassigned. How do I get it assigned? It has been entered into MLS for months.

I've also noticed that the building specialist is listed on the calendar administration, but I can't find it in MLS either...

In a ward the position is called "Website Administrator". Check for that position. It could also be "Stake Website Administrator". Since our stake does not have a website administrator I cannot confirm the standard position name.

The standard position is "Stake Assistant Clerk - Technology Specialist". The position in MLS may be a custom position and not recognized by the system and the standard position is therefore unassigned.

In MLS the standard position is "Stake Building Specialist". The standard position must be used to be recognized by the system.

If the Stake Assistant Clerk - Technology Specialist and the Stake Building Specialist positions are filled using those standard position names then check CDOL to see what is listed there. If they are not there then change something simple such as the set apart flag, save, then change it back and do a send/receive. This will resend the callings to CDOL and update the system.

As I recall, it's under Organizations > Other Organizations > Other Callings. It's definitely in MLS, since I know that I have that calling, and I as a stake clerk added it to Stake MLS. The exact title is "Stake Website Administrator."

I would guess that your STS has been given a custom calling, rather than the standard "Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology Specialist". You can check that in MLS or CDOL (assuming you have the rights to access CDOL) to determine if it is a standard or custom calling.

I also have that STS calling, and when I look at the list of administrators in the Calendar, I see my name listed. So there's not a general problem with that calling being listed as a calendar admin.

So, in MLS, I go into >Organization >other organizations... there is 'Technology' catigory. And under that there is only an 'assistant technology specialist'. This is where the STS is entered and does not show on the calendar. There are no other callings in the catigory. Is this where the web admin should be? I cannot find it anywhere else.

Where would the building specialist be? I looked under the 'other' catigory', in 'facilities'. And there is only 'stake physical facilities rep...'. And that person does not show up on the calender list.

Can default callings be deleted?

If you quoted the name of the calling correctly, then you can rest assured that "Assistant technology specialist" is not a standard calling. Custom callings can never grant permissions to applications, so that would certainly explain why the STS does not appear in the list of Calendar administrators.

Yes, this is where the Stake Website Administrator should be.

The Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology Specialist should be under Stake Presidency (with the other assistant clerks).

Yes, the Stake Building Specialist calling should be under Facilities, along with Stake Physical Facilities Representative.

No, but occasionally the list of default callings can become corrupted. I'd recommend that you do a Unit Data Refresh. That should fix your default list of callings.

A default calling cannot be deleted, however if its not showing on the current list of callings in you system you may need to add from the standard calling list. Once your in the organization you want to work with just click the "ADD" link in the upper right of the page and it should give you a drop down box of callings for that organization.

Using the "Add..." link worked. I was able to correct entries in MLS and it showed on the calendar right after the update.

Thanks for the help.

This "Stake Building Specialist" calling is new to me. Has it been added recently? Does this calling have the same rights as "Stake Administrator"? Was it created to be the same as a "Stake Website Administrator"? Where can I find a description for his duties? Would this be a position that maybe could be in charge of the calendar or all of the lds.org tools on a Stake level? Or maybe it has to do with building maintenance? :) I searched a couple places, but did not find much. Thank You for your patients.

A "Stake Building Specialist" is a default admin for the stake-level calendars (but not ward-level calendars). "Stake website administrator" is also a default admin for the stake-level calendar, but I believe it also has rights to other applications.

Beats me. I can't find anything in the Handbook or the FM Guidelines. Based on the rights I see, it does seem to have more to do with calendering, but it's still not a return to "the old way". It would only work for stake organizations seeking to schedule things. Wards would still have to schedule themselves.
