MLS 2.9 Issues

After installing MLS 2.9 I noticed that after clicking Help on Dell Optiplex GX270 and GX280 computers with only 256 Mb of RAM that it took a long, long, long time for the pop-up to appear. This caused some clerks to either continue to click the Help link or think the computer had locked up. On my test install at home there is no delay.

At the help screen the find feature using the magnifying glass turns up duplicate entries. For example - when a find is done for donor the first duplicate item is 15 Add/Update Donors, the next duplicate is 8 Donor Statements and so on. Clicking on one of the duplicates results in the right information pane being blank while the other duplicate is populated. I cannot see a pattern as to which duplicate is the blank since for some it is the first and for others it is the second.

This is cetainly annoying, but is not new to MLS 2.9. I don't recall when it first happened, but it has been around for several versions -- I can't even remember it not happening.

Through trial and error, I found 512MB clears up these types of delays. Our stake upgraded all ours a while back, but if yours are scheduled to be replaced anytime soon, I would probably hold off.

Our computers were updated yesterday in only 10 - 12 minutes rather than the 30 minutes originally advertized - that was nice.

However, once the upgrade was completed I noticed that we no longer (at least in the stake computer) have access to the Church Education "module" in the Other Resources box. Is there a reason that it was deleted? I didn't use it that often, but have used it for helping not only our Stake Presidency but also our Institute in Grand Junction when they have asked for information.

Were there other items that were deleted in 2.9 that I haven't noticed in the Stake Computer?

The Student Enrollment panel was removed in 2.9.0 for a stake unit only. The Student Enrollment panel is designed for use by sub units such as a ward unit and wasn't considered useful for a stake unit. A stake unit wouldn't be entering data in this area only sub units. Restoring this panel is being considered for a future release. Reports have been received that this panel was being used by stake units however limited.

This is the understanding I have.

No other areas of MLS have been deleted in 2.9.0.
