MLS primary installation vs alternate installation

Postby hansg » Sun Oct 13, 2013 6:43 am

So, when installing MLS I got an interesting dialog box that said:
Is this the primary installation for this unit, or is this an alternate installation? Alternate installations should not transmit for the primary installation without direction from headquarters."
If this is the primary installation, select primary installation. Only the MLS installation responsible for submitting the local unit information should select primary installation.

Is perhaps SLC is tacitly endorsing "alternate" installations of MLS?

Perhaps. But I think the rules of requiring it to be on church machines and not accepting donations still apply. That would limit the situations where "alternates" could be used.

They have fixed it so it's impossible to do anything with finances until the security key has been reset and a file has been received. Previously, you could enter finances, etc. but you just couldn't send and receive until the security key was reset.
