I am the ward clerk in a singles ward, and thus everyone in my ward is 18 and older. We have a few priests and a teacher, all 18, who I'd like to put into the "Prospective Elders" category. Does anyone know how I can do this? I know the handbook says 19 and older are prospective elders, but I have others in my ward who are 18, and labeled as prospective elders. Please help, thanks!

To qualify as a prospective elder one of the following must apply:
  • 19 years of age or older and do not have a Melchizedek Priesthood ordination recorded on their membership record
  • Under 19 years of age and married
  • Not assigned to the Young Men organization
  • Assigned to the high priests group or elders quorum
So for your situation each of these 18 year old males need to be assigned to either the High Priests Group or the Elders Quorum and they will then be prospective elders. If they are still listed in an Aaronic Priesthood quorum you can click "remove" on the far right of the row of their name. You will be prompted to "Select the destination organization:". Click the "Select" button and either select "Elders" or "High Priests" as appropriate.
