And, be aware that I think you must be signed into that page with your LDS account to see the "applications" menu....

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Never "push" an update that erases our data without a full month of warning by multiple notifications:
 1. Written notification, AND
 2. email notification (bishop and clerk) AND
 3. MLS message,
Yes, give us all three.
Why? From experience with CUBS update and from this last 3.5 update...We aren't getting the information to the right people in time when reports need to be printed FIRST if data will be erased and need to be reconstructed. These "church channels" take weeks to move a message (and if you add a temple dedication and conference that erases Sunday meetings, the message easily stalls and doesn't make it in time....)

And, I would love you to add #4, just to be safe....
4. Note on the screen:
"you are about to make an update that will overwrite and erase IMPORTANT data. You need to have the following (various) reports printed and have created a backup. Type YES if you have accomplished these tasks, have your fingers crossed, and are ready to proceed"
The patch is being built currently, and will be ready later today. Not sure on an exact time at this point.

Where is the patch available for download?
Or do you update through mls and do a send/receive if you've already got 3.5

As a YSA ward, we have a few custom organizations. With the many new organizations available to us, yes this adds for greater filing, but I also need the ability to create a custom organization (such as FHE). That capability was on 3.4 and I can't find it on 3.5. Hopefully its back in on the patch???

Thanks

The patch is to solve the issue discussed in the thread Bishopric members all under custom positions - lost financial authorization. If you are experiencing the same issue then follow the procedures in post #33 of that thread.

Unfortunately it is not. The release notes for 3.5 describes the updates. There is some more information in Record-Keeping and Technology Support article MLS Release Notifications. You have to be signed into LDS.org to gain access to that article. The part you do not want to hear is that custom organizations are no longer possible. Only the capability to merge or split classes is possible now.

I learned my lesson long ago about custom organizations, after 2 separate MLS upgrades blew mine away, I stopped using them. It was extremely useful and made the callings by organization report a much easier report to use... but, now the need to align multiple systems like CDOL, and the online directory is forcing a standardization. Understandable, but does lose a bit of flexibility for units like YSA wards. It also discourages a bit of creativity among our members which we need more of not less of.
