Callings, User Added Positions

Recently I noticed that MLS was out of synch with the directory on lds.org. I requested a refresh of the unit data and that solved my problem, but seemed to create a different problem. I'm in a singles ward, so we have a lot of user added positions for callings. When I look at the 'Other Callings' option under Organizations, everything looks like it did before the refresh. The problem is that some of the user added positions are not accessible anymore. For instance, if I select our "Welcoming Committee", I have a list of all the members of that committee. If I try to add another user defined "Welcoming Committee Member" calling to that list, it can't be found even though there are some 7 odd people listed with that calling. If I select that position from the list of people assigned to that calling, the organization shows 'Welcomming Committee' but 'Position' field is blank where it should say 'Welcomming Commitee Member'. It seems like these callings are no longer connected to anything.

If I look under 'Custom Positions', all the callings that can't be found are listed under "Miscellaneous User Added Positions". Is there a quick fix to this other than backing up and restoring MLS?

I had the same problem with our YSA unit. It seems that whenever a unit refresh is done, any custom positions from all organizations are moved to "Miscellaneous User Added Positions" (MUAD), and the problem you encountered arises. I couldn't find any solution other than to recreate the custom callings under the appropriate organizations, delete all the unit refresh callings under MUAD, and finally reassign everyone to the newly created callings under the correct organizations.

Obviously, this isn't the quick fix you're looking for. Maybe someone else has found a runaround.

So that explains it. I guess someone in my stake must have done a refresh a while back.

Thanks dwsmith2. At the very least it's nice to know that it's not an unusual event. I was afraid I was going to have to go through and re-add all the callings, but I thought I'd check the forum first before I took the time to recreate the callings.
