Correcting Errors on Member Records

There is a Member Record that we have been trying to fix for several months. After his Conversion Baptism we entered his records and some how his mother's name was entered incorrectly. We have corrected it on our side, but each time we check to see if the name has been updated it goes back to the incorrect name. What are we doing wrong??

I'm assuming that the mission office created the new member record. If the local ward clerk did it you probably have duplicate records confusing things too.

Before the baptism was the mother a member? If so you need to link the actual mother's membership record to the child's record. If the record is actually linked then the membership record of the mother must be changed, not the name on the child's record.
