I think that it would be very cool if on our profile for our stake and ward/branch websites if we could opt in or out of being able to be searched by the church at large to reconnect people. You could make it so that all email communication could be contained within The Church's site, or that people could have your private email account. This could be set up through privacy settings from within the profile itself. I have several people that I have lost touch with from previous wards, etc and it would be so nice to find them again.

I'd like for this concept to be expanded further (like a social networking type thing), but I know that this would be an easier implementation at this time.

Is this possible?

It's certainly technically possible, but it would be a liabilty to the Church if there were data privacy breaches. I think that this would be tougher to get done from a data privacy policy standpoint than a technical one.
