It seems that when I login to my LUWS, navigate up to the stake, then down to a different ward, I can see that ward's membership information (and even download it via CSV).

Can every member in the stake do this? (See the membership directory for every other ward in the stake)

I read https://tech.lds.org/wiki/index.php/Loc ... _Directory , but based on the wording it is kind of hard to answer my question.

I suppose this is why the iStake application would work (assuming this is how it gets all the data).

Yes, every member of the stake can see everything about every other unit in the stake, including membership, leadership, news and information, calendar, resources, etc.

That makes it very handy to find leaders and member in other wards. For example, if one YM President wants to schedule a joint activity with the YM in another ward in the stake, he can go to the leadership directory of that other ward and find out who is the current YM president, complete with phone number (and e-mail address, if that other YM president has published it on LUWS).
