For now, they have some workarounds that allow you to do that.mohhess wrote:It would be nice if we could have the option to have a ward website that tied in with the new calendar/directory and one day, lesson scheduler. For now...we use a blog that has links that go to these places (except lessons. For that we have an html table update monthly by me).
One is to Deactivate the Classic Calendar and Directory. The effect that this has is that when members click on any directory or calendar link in the classic site, they will automatically be redirected to the new features.
To deactivate the classic calendar or directory, have a stake administrator do the following:
Go to the classic stake and ward website by going to http://units.lds.org.
Sign in with your LDS Account.
On the stake homepage, on the left-hand navigation, click Administrator Options.
Click the green link that says Use New Calendar/Directory.
An options page appears with options to deactivate the classic calendar or directory. Select the following as desired:
--Deactivate Classic Calendar
--Deactivate Classic Directory
Click Save Changes
The other thing that can be done in addition to this, is adding the links to each new feature in the "Web Resources" section of the homepage on the classic website.
Lesson schedules can be added on the old website as well. If you are unable to get your stake administrators to add Priesthood/Relief Society lessons at the stake level, you can also enter your lesson schedule into a "News and Information" item, and check the box to have that item appear on the homepage.
I hope that helps! Then you'll have people in the habit of going to lds.org already, instead of redirecting them to the new site when it comes out.
