Help with making notes

I have just switched from using my iPad for scripture study to using my computer. I can't seem to figure out how to make a notation for something in the scriptures without having to put it in a notebook or tag. For example, say I want to make a note about a specific word in a scripture that will show up with an icon beside that scripture that shows my thoughts on that word. In my iPad it shows up as a page icon beside the scripture and when I touch the icon it shows my notes. I can't seem to figure out how to do that on my computer scriptures. Any help would be appreciated.

First, make sure you're signed in to LDS.org (your name will appear at the top right of the page when you're logged in).

To create a highlight, select some text, and you should see a popup appear next to what you selected with options. One of those options is "Add Note/Tag."

To see a note that you've created previously, you can hover over the highlight that has a note. There's no indicator in the margin like there is in Gospel Library 4, when there's a note, tag, or link associated with the highlight, unfortunately (the LDS.org study tools are a little bit behind the app study tools, but they will hopefully be catching up soon).

Highlighting and annotating on lds.org of content that is not indented and indented alike.

Hello! I'm trying to highlight and annotate from an lds.org webpage, "OLD TESTAMENT STUDENT MANUAL KINGS-MALACHI". I'm logged in as a user and my tool bar is available at the bottom of the page with its "ShareBookmarkJournal entryStudy ModeOpen Notebook" features. My concern is that I can highlight (and annotate) content that isn't indented or numbered, but when I try to highlight and annotate indented or numbered content, I'm unsuccessful. I really want to be able to highlight the content so that I will be able to link the content to the scriptrues using my iPad's functions. Of course, I can't highlight and annotate that same content in my iPad's Safari browser, either. Is there some type of workaround someone can help me with here, please? I am running Windows 10 on my desktop computer. Thank you for any input or feedback.

Most of the content on LDS.org (with the exception of scriptures and recent publications, like recent General Conferences) is still using an old content format that doesn't support highlights on titles, bulleted lists, etc. Eventually all of the content will be updated to use the newer HTML5 format that Gospel Library 4 is using, at which point you'll be able to highlight any part of the text. In the meantime, the only way to highlight those parts of content is through the Gospel Library app.

Yes, thank you for your reply. I understand that I will have to wait for future updates to be able to highlight certain content online.

However, I do have problems highlighting and linking that same content with GL IOS through my iPad 4; can you recommend any thing to do so that I can highlight and work with stubborn content in my Gospel Library on my iPad? Any suggestions would be appreciated, as there are many many things I cannot make notes of, just journal entries.

Do you have an example of a paragraph or section of text that's not working? What version of Gospel Library are you running (you can check in Settings)?
Also, what does it do when you try to highlight that content? Does it let you create a highlight? If you leave the chapter and come back, is the highlight still there?

Does the church allow Grammarly to work when making notes next to the scriptures? Grammerly's answer is that they don't support every place you write on your computer. I have the paid Grammarly some times, and it works, and other times, it doesn't. I have it added as a Chrome extension. It works in this forum.
